Summer camp is a great
place for kids to be kids. Since The Salvation
Army believes it's better to build children
than repair adults, what better place to
build than Camp Arnold in Eatonville?
Swimming, canoeing, fishing, team and individual
sports, arts and crafts, drama and music
are just some of the activities offered
at a session of camp. New friends and new
activities help children build life skills,
good citizenship, solid values and personal
responsibility. All the activities are designed
to increase the camper's self-esteem, confidence
and spiritual awareness to succeed despite
the challenging world around them.
The camp is built on land donated to The
Salvation Army in the 1960's. Camp Arnold
has 17 cabins, a chapel, an indoor gymnasium,
a kitchen/dining hall and indoor activity
area. Extensive nature trails, a wilderness
challenge course, playing fields, an amphitheater
and a swimming pool are also located on
the 620 acres that are nestled in the foothills
of Mt. Rainier.
Camp Arnold offers tailored camping opportunities
for families and senior citizens who live
in isolation or on fixed incomes. In the
off-season, the camp facilities are made
available to school districts, other non-profit
organizations and corporations.
