Doing the Most Good
The Salvation Army in Anacortes helps more than 8,000 people in Anacortes, La Conner and the San Juan Islands each year. We assist people with food boxes from our food bank, rental assistance, energy assistance, and gas for transport in a medical emergency. We also provide vouchers for people who can't afford to pay for their medicine. At Thanksgiving and Christmas time, we provide special food boxes filled with turkey or ham and all the trimmings for a holiday meal. In addition, we distribute toys to low-income families for Christmas. Families who have had a particularly difficult year are served through our Christmas Adopt-A-Family program. The toys we distribute are donated through our Angel Tree program in area stores.
