Someone Cares . . . Yesterday, Today & Always
With the help of volunteers and donors, The Salvation Army will touch the lives of thousands of needy men, women and children this holiday season. Velta Andrews, president of The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary remembers the generosity of The Salvation Army quite well. "When I was growing up, we received a Salvation Army Thanksgiving and Christmas more than once," Andrews said. She remembers how excited she and her siblings would get when the truck would pull up. "It made us feel like someone cared. And it was moments like that that made all of the bad memories go away. The Salvation Army made us feel special." Andrews is involved with the Army today because of those childhood memories. She says, "If my work can help The Salvation Army save a child's broken heart, it's all worth it!"
