Southern California Division Providing Services to Hundreds of Evacuees

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 14, 2008) – The Salvation Army is serving meals to more than 200 evacuees of “The Tea Fire,” just south of Santa Barbara. The wildfire erupted in the hillside community of Montecito where at least 2,500 acres have burned and 100 homes are destroyed.

Montecito residents and Westmont College students received meals and refuge at San Marcos High School and Reality Church in Carpinteria. The joint effort between The Salvation Army Santa Barbara Corps, Hospitality House and the Carpinteria Adult Rehabilitation Center will continue as needed.
