The Salvation Army also benefits from gifts of tangible items. By donating items that are needed on a regular basis in our community programs and services, you can help to offset the cost of purchasing similar items. Non-perishable food for our food banks and personal care items for our shelters are always helpful. Grocery cards for our clients as well as gift cards, new toys, and bikes for children during the holidays are among the items we can use.
To arrange for a Gifts In-Kind donation, or to find out which items are needed most, please contact the Salvation Army unit closest to you. If you have items to donate but are unable to deliver them, we can often arrange to pick up your donation with one of our trucks.
In some cases, we can help you or your organization benefit from your donation:
Tax deduction — We will provide appropriate documentation for you to provide to the IRS.
Positive public relations — Our marketing and public relations team can help provide positive exposure and highlight your donation.
Philanthropic involvement — Your support of The Salvation Army is an ideal channel for investing in your local community.
Volunteer opportunities — You and your team can have “hands-on” experience helping the community at our programs or events.
