The Salvation Army is providing relief to devastated areas of Kansas, Missouri and Southern Illinois following the severe weather and tornadoes that passed through the mid-west regions throughout Wednesday morning.

At least 16 tornados were reported from Nebraska and Kansas across southern Missouri to Illinois and Kentucky, according to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK. As of March 1, twelve individuals from these areas were killed and many are suffering injuries as a result. Tornadoes in and around Harrisburg, IL that touched down during the night hours took many community members by surprise.

Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) teams are providing hands-on relief for communities suffering in the aftermath of these disasters. EDS teams are also communicating and collaborating with Emergency Management groups at the local, county and state levels.

Currently, crews are stationed in Branson, MO; Kimberling City, MO; Harrisburg, IL; Lebanon, MO; and Cumberland, TN. Plus, teams are standing by with mobile feeding units and additional personnel if needed in other communities.
