Create Art for a Great Cause!

The Salvation Army is seeking art for its art auction fundraiser on September 28, 2013. Art auction will be part of a special event at Fremont Studios in Seattle, featuring Joel McHale (from NBC’s hit comedy “Community). Funds raised at this event will help support The Salvation Army homeless women’s shelter in downtown Seattle. 

Eligible art:

  • Art must be created using items from The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store in Seattle (up to $250 value).
  • Other materials can be added, but a repurposed item from the store must be the MAIN component.
  • All formats are welcome – two-dimensional, three-dimensional, furniture, decorative, utilitarian, jewelry, etc.
  • Finished pieces can be no larger than 4’ x 4’ x 4’.

How to apply:

  • Submit an application online here, including $25 entry fee.
  • An electronic receipt will include details about visiting The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store and selecting items for your art.

Judging:

  • All art meeting criteria will be judged by a jury of event committee members and Nancy Guppy (Seattle comic and arts enthusiast).
  • Judging will be based on most creative use of recycled materials.
  • All art will be featured in silent auction at event. Winning art will be sold via live auction at event.

Timeline

Thursday, August 1 - Friday, September 13

  • Application and entry fees accepted online here.
  • Artists can visit The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store to select items for art (up to $250 value).
  • There is no charge for the items selected from the store.
  • Matierials can be picked up at The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store in Seattle on Thurs and Fri only, 1pm to 4pm only.
  • Receipt of application and fee is required for entry.
  • Please see receipt for additional details.   

Friday, September 20

  • Finished art is due. Please deliver to (location information and hours to come). 

Week of September 23

 

  • Art will be judged by committee.

 

Saturday, September 28

  • Art will be displayed at silent auction for bidding and sale.
  • Winning art will be sold during live auction at event. 

 

Note: This is a non-juried exhibit of creative art, to support The Salvation Army shelter for homeless women. The event, fundraiser, art auction, and supporting programs are produced by The Salvation Army Advisory Board. The Salvation Army, its Advisory Board, and event committee reserve the right to decline artists or art. All applications and fees are non-refundable. The decision of the judges is final.
