The iconic Salvation Army brass band will perform Friday, May 13, at Westlake Center Park in downtown Seattle, in honor of National Salvation Army Week. Uniformed Salvation Army musicians will perform the free, outdoor concert from noon to 1pm at the Park, located at 4th Avenue and Pine Street.

In 1954, President Eisenhower declared the second week of May to be National Salvation Army Week. He said "...The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of brotherhood.The Salvation Army serves nearly 400,000 people each year in Western Washington, always meeting human needs without discrimination. Among the services offered in this region are rent/utility/gas assistance, food pantry, clothing, disaster relief services, day care centers, summer camps, holiday assistance, services for the aging, medical facilities, shelters for battered women and children, family and career counseling, vocational training, correction services, and substance abuse rehabilitation.
