Special thanks to Silvana Clark and Soles4Souls, for a generous donation of more than 50 pairs of shoes to kids at The Salvation Army in Renton, WA.

Silvana Clark is well known as a motivational speaker and author of 12 books on parenting, crafting, and marketing. She and her husband, Allan, are volunteers at The Salvation Army after-school homework tutoring program in Renton.

Through their time at The Salvation Army, Silvana and Allan recognized that most of the kids need more than help with homework. Most of the kids come from working families that have trouble making ends meet, with extra money not available for some basic needs. Through their relationship with the international charity Soles4Souls – Silvana and Allan worked with the non-profit group for three years – they were able to secure new shoes for the kids in the after school program.

“Kids these ages either grow out or wear out their shoes quickly,” said Major Kris Potter of The Salvation Army in Renton. “But most families can’t afford more than one pair of shoes per kid per year, so we see their feet literally bursting out of the shoes.” He added that the gift of new shoes bring comfort, safety, and improved self-esteem to the kids.

“We thrilled to have Silvana and Allan as volunteers,” Major Potter continued. “And with this donation, they’ve really gone above and beyond what we’ve expected. It’s wonderful.”
