The second-grade class of Seattle Country Day School spearheaded an all-school fundraiser for The Salvation Army Warm Home Fund. The school raised $250 and presented their donations in a red kettle to Lt. Col. Doug O'Brien. Puget Sound Energy attended the event and presented a $50,000 corporate contribution. These funds will be used to help local families stay warm as cool temperatures extend into spring.

The Salvation Army Warm Home Fund, provides short-term emergency bill payment assistance to PSE customers facing financial difficulties throughout Western Washington. The students' collection of $250 was matched by a family, bringing the total donation to $500. The students began the annual tradition of raising money for Fund in 2005.

Since its inception in 1982, The Salvation Army Warm Home Fund, which receives donations from PSE owners, customers and employees, has helped more than 100,000 families in 11 Washington state counties where the utility provides electric and natural gas service.

During the 2009-10 heating season, PSE owners, customers and employees voluntarily contributed $610,000 to the fund, which helped nearly 4,000 families.
