Advisory boards are The Salvation Army's critical link to
the communities in which we serve. The Salvation Army seeks
members who are representative of their communities and possess
leadership and personal traits that enable them to effectively
serve and represent The Salvation Army publicly. Board member
responsibilities vary slightly from location to location,
and may include the following:
- Participating
in raising funds and resources to assist The
Army in carrying out its work
- Advising
on long-term planning
- Observing
the management of the affairs of The Army
and ascertaining that it is done in a businesslike,
responsible and efficient manner
- Assisting
in the promotion of The Army through the media
to the community
- Participating
in reports to the community on programs
and services
- Convening
at least monthly except in some summer months
- Maintaining
records of all official proceedings
