"There are comparatively few people stirring after midnight, and when we are snugly tucked into our own beds we are apt to forget the multitude outside in the rain and the storm who are shivering the long hours through on the hard stone seats in the open or under the arches of the railway."

  •   Subtance abuse, domestic violence and   mental illness are the leading cause   of homelessness
  •   There are at least 6,000 homeless women   and children each night in King County
  •   There are slightly less than 3,800 shelter   and  transitional housing beds available

Every year, The Salvation Army helps thousands of homeless men, women and families get back on their feet through programs in our shelters. Our shelters provide clean, safe and supportive living spaces for individuals and families seeking to break the cycle of homelessness.

In addition to providing hot meals, our shelters offer counseling, vocational and educational services to residents so they can work towards a more independent way of living and an end to their life on the streets.
