Sometimes, a little help can make a big difference to a family in need.

The Olsen family of Renton was readjusting after husband and father, Andy, finished his tour of duty in Afganistan. His commitment to the Navy was finished and he was eager to return home and find a job. Unfortunately, finding a job in the current economy - even with his armed services experience - was difficult and disappointing. Family life became tense when the money started to run out, and the job search was frustrating.

Suddenly, every family expense became too big, and there wasn't an end in sight. Even the water bill seemed out of reach - until a neighbor told them about The Salvation Army. Andy's wife, Lisa, brought the overdue water bill to the Army in March. Through The Salvation Army utility assistance program, qualifying clients can receive aid with their water, electric, gas, or oil bills. Lisa cried tears of joy when the caseworker told her The Salvation Army would pay the bill directly to the utility company. Now, the Olsen family has one less thing to worry about - and a bit more hope.
